This project was shot for a cowboy hat company so keeping the detail in the white straw was very important. I had one of my assistants hold a California Sunbounce SUN-SWATTER BIG, or as I say "A silk on a stick." This is a lightweight tubular frame with thin translucent material stretched across it. This softens the light so when properly used & exposed there will still be detail in the brightest part of the photo. Shot with a Canon camera & a Canon 400mm f2.8 IS lens.
